Two Fatalities Reported in Bejaia Due to Gas Inhalation

Bejaia, Algeria – Tragedy struck in the Bejaia province as two individuals succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident occurred in the locality of Tourirtine, within the commune and district of Ouzellaguen.

Civil Protection services responded to a distress call early Monday morning, at approximately 6:48 AM, regarding two individuals suffering from carbon monoxide intoxication. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders discovered the victims had been exposed to fumes emanating from a faulty heating appliance.

Sadly, despite efforts to provide medical assistance, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the morgue at the local hospital for further examination and identification.

Carbon monoxide, an odorless and colorless gas, poses a significant threat during the colder months when heating appliances are frequently used. Authorities urge residents to ensure proper ventilation and regularly inspect their heating systems to prevent similar tragedies. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with faulty or poorly maintained gas appliances.
