Civil Protection services responded to a distress call early Monday morning, at approximately 6:48 AM, regarding two individuals suffering from carbon monoxide intoxication. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders discovered the victims had been exposed to fumes emanating from a faulty heating appliance.
Sadly, despite efforts to provide medical assistance, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the morgue at the local hospital for further examination and identification.
Carbon monoxide, an odorless and colorless gas, poses a significant threat during the colder months when heating appliances are frequently used.
