A groundbreaking national initiative designed to support Algeria’s next generation of business leaders is set to launch, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Youth. The program, spearheaded by Youth Minister Mustapha Hidaoui, aims to mentor one thousand promising young entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s competitive market.
Ramadan Yakhlaf, a central director within the Ministry, emphasized the unique nature of the “Youth Leadership Nurturing Initiative” during a recent radio interview. He explained that the Ministry will actively support the participants through a comprehensive year-long training program. This program will feature both national and regional components, facilitated by renowned national and international experts.
“Upon completion of the training, each participant will be tasked with sharing their newly acquired expertise with at least 30 other young people within youth clubs and community centers,” Yakhlaf stated. This cascading effect is projected to indirectly benefit as many as 30,000 young Algerians.
The program targets individuals aged 18 to 28, ensuring age proximity and facilitating a focused and relevant curriculum. The training will encompass diverse fields, including politics, diplomacy, culture, media, and sports. The goal is to enhance the participants’ capabilities and empower them to contribute meaningfully to national development programs and societal progress.
“The Ministry’s strategy for addressing the concerns of young people is primarily focused on enhancing the appeal of youth institutions and attracting a wider audience,” Yakhlaf noted. He added that the initiative specifically considers the interests of Algerian youth, particularly their inclination towards scientific activities, culture, digitization, technology, and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, Yakhlaf unveiled a renewed vision for strengthening the role of youth centers and spaces. This vision aims to move beyond traditional approaches that catered to limited age groups. A comprehensive program to rehabilitate numerous youth institutions and spaces began in 2025, with initial positive responses already observed. The Ministry is also preparing to launch a new program in 2026, backed by significant funding allocated under the new financial law, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment.
