Oran, Algeria – National Gendarmerie forces in Oran have dismantled several criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances. The operations, conducted across various districts of the province, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics.
According to a statement released by the Gendarmerie, the successful raids were the culmination of intensive field work, thorough investigations, and effective intelligence gathering. The operations led to the confiscation of 3 kilograms of processed cannabis and 8,600 capsules of various types of psychotropic drugs.
Authorities also seized 28.8 million Algerian dinars (approximately $215,000 USD) believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Two passenger vehicles, several bladed weapons, and mobile phones were also recovered during the raids.
The suspects have been presented before the competent judicial authorities on charges related to the possession, trafficking, and sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances within the framework of an organized criminal group. The charges include possession with intent to distribute, display, sale, and offering for sale.
The National Gendarmerie continues to prioritize the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime across the country.
