President Tebboune Focuses on Agricultural Mechanization

Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a working meeting today dedicated to agricultural mechanization initiatives, signaling a renewed focus on bolstering the nation’s agricultural sector. The meeting, held earlier today, resulted in key decisions aimed at modernizing farming practices across the country.

According to a statement released by the Presidency, a central outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish specialized cooperatives focused on the rental of agricultural equipment. This initiative is designed to provide farmers, particularly small and medium-sized operators, with access to modern machinery that might otherwise be unaffordable. The goal is to expand cultivated land areas and significantly increase the productivity of national agricultural output.

“The President emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to transform the agricultural landscape,” the statement noted. The cooperative model is expected to facilitate the efficient distribution and utilization of agricultural machinery, ensuring that resources are available where and when they are needed most.

This move towards greater mechanization is seen as a crucial step in achieving food security and reducing the nation’s reliance on imports. By providing farmers with the tools they need to enhance their operations, the government hopes to unlock the full potential of Algeria’s agricultural sector. The President reiterated his commitment to supporting farmers and fostering a more sustainable and productive agricultural economy.

Further details regarding the implementation of these cooperatives, including their geographical distribution and the types of equipment they will offer, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to modernize various sectors of the Algerian economy and improve the livelihoods of its citizens.
