Algiers – The Ministry of Communication has issued a stern warning, emphasizing the absolute necessity of immediate and complete compliance with the provisions of the Organic Law on Information. In a statement released today, the Ministry underscored the importance of upholding the law, cautioning that any deviation or violation could result in legal consequences.
The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to a free and responsible media landscape, but stressed that such freedom is contingent upon adherence to established legal frameworks. The Ministry pointed out that the Organic Law on Information serves as the cornerstone for regulating media activities within the country and ensuring ethical and professional conduct.
“The Ministry calls upon all media outlets and professionals to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the stipulations of the Organic Law and to ensure that their operations are fully aligned with its requirements,” the statement read. It further elaborated that the Ministry will be closely monitoring compliance and will not hesitate to take appropriate action against those found to be in violation.
The warning comes amid ongoing discussions within the media community regarding the interpretation and implementation of certain aspects of the law. While some have expressed concerns about potential restrictions on journalistic freedom, the Ministry maintains that the law is designed to promote responsible journalism and protect the public interest.
The Ministry’s statement concluded by reaffirming its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with media stakeholders to address any concerns and ensure a clear understanding of the legal obligations. However, it reiterated that compliance with the Organic Law on Information is non-negotiable and essential for maintaining a credible and trustworthy media environment within the nation.
