The World Health Organization calls for an immediate halt to aggression in Gaza to enable efficient distribution of medical aid , Cessation of Aggression Gaza World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has urgently called for a cessation of aggression in Gaza to ensure the continuous delivery of necessary medical assistance in the area. Richard Peeperkorn, the WHO representative in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, emphasized that the health system in Gaza is facing significant challenges due to the ongoing aggression, hindering hospitals’ capacity to deal with emergency situations.

Peeperkorn explained that WHO’s operational plan includes strengthening the existing health system, increasing the number of hospital beds, and providing necessary supplies to manage disease outbreaks. He pointed out that the current situation requires urgent action to stop the aggression to guarantee the delivery of aid to those in need.

Challenges faced by the health sector include a shortage of beds and medical supplies, with 18 out of 36 hospitals operating at limited capacity, some barely functioning. There is a dire need to improve medical infrastructure and provide psychological and social support to those affected by the crisis.

The organization confirmed that it had carried out nine medical aid distribution operations in recent weeks, but the needs still exceed the available resources. In light of the current conditions, WHO is urging the international community to intervene urgently to facilitate the arrival of aid and the reactivation of primary healthcare facilities.

This call comes in the wake of renewed Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip following the end of the humanitarian truce, further complicating the humanitarian and health situation in the region.
