Doha, Qatar – General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, concluded his official visit to Qatar today, marking the end of his participation in the 9th edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026).
The final day of the visit saw General Chengriha touring the expansive exhibition, which this year boasted a record number of exhibitors and leading international defense industry institutions. He examined the latest innovations in naval warfare industries, receiving detailed technical briefings on advanced equipment and the cutting-edge technologies shaping the sector.
The tour included a focus on advanced solutions in areas such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), command and control systems, and cybersecurity, in addition to weaponry and armored vehicles. These displays highlighted the rapid transformations occurring within the global defense landscape.
The visit also provided an opportunity for discussions with officials and representatives from international industrial institutions. These talks centered on the exchange of expertise and the exploration of potential future partnerships, particularly in the areas of military manufacturing, maintenance, and technology transfer. The aim is to enhance operational readiness and modernize equipment in accordance with established international standards.
Earlier in the day, General Chengriha was received at the Qatari Ministry of Defence by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs. The two held a private meeting to discuss ways to strengthen military cooperation between Algeria and Qatar.
During his visit to the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Doha, the Chief of Staff received briefings on the city’s key landmarks. Both sides commended the excellent level of bilateral relations.
This visit underscores Algeria’s commitment to modernizing its defense capabilities and fostering strategic partnerships within the international defense community.
