Algeria Showcases Mining Expertise at SEMICA TCHAD 2026

Algeria is participating in the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons, SEMICA TCHAD 2026, held in N’Djamena, Chad, from January 21st to 23rd, 2026. The country is the guest of honor at the event, highlighting its significant role in extractive industries and its commitment to South-South cooperation and sustainable development across the African continent.

Representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is leading a high-level delegation that includes the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bechire, and the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjjal. Senior officials from major national companies such as Sonatrach, Naftal, and the Algerian Cement Industries Group (GICA) are also part of the delegation, along with representatives from the hydrocarbons, mining, energy, and industry sectors.

Minister Arkab is scheduled to participate in a high-level conference addressing the strategy for African nations to leverage extractive industries for sustainable economic and social development. He will present Algeria’s vision for sector development and maximizing its developmental impact. The delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with ministers and company representatives from Chad and other international entities to explore investment opportunities, expand partnerships, and facilitate knowledge transfer.

The Algerian economy will be prominently featured at the exhibition through a dedicated national pavilion. This pavilion will showcase the activities of Sonatrach, Sonarem, and Naftal, highlighting Algeria’s expertise in hydrocarbons and mining, as well as its technical and industrial capabilities.

SEMICA TCHAD 2026 is a major African event that brings together decision-makers, investors, and experts from over 45 countries. It provides a platform for exhibitions, conferences, and partnership building, while addressing the challenges and opportunities within the sector up to 2030. Algeria’s participation underscores its commitment to fostering collaboration and driving sustainable development within the African mining and energy landscape. Algeria aims to become a key player in the African mining sector.
