Al-Hasakah, Syria – Early Wednesday morning, unidentified drones reportedly struck a position belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the city of Qamishli, located in the Al-Hasakah governorate of northeastern Syria. According to local sources, the attack involved two separate drone strikes.
Simultaneously, reports indicate increased military activity near the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani). There are unconfirmed reports of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements moving towards the area. The reasons for this build-up are currently unclear.
DZWatch has learned that Syrian security forces have deployed in the city of Al-Shaddadi, south of Al-Hasakah, following the withdrawal of SDF units. This withdrawal reportedly includes the Al-Jabsah oil fields.
These developments come amid ongoing security concerns in the region. Earlier this week, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced the capture of 81 suspected ISIS members who had escaped from a prison in Al-Shaddadi. The Ministry stated that operations are continuing to apprehend the remaining escapees. The Syrian Ministry of Defense has also declared its readiness to take control of prisons holding ISIS detainees and transfer them to the custody of security forces.
The security situation in northeastern Syria remains volatile, and DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available. Further details regarding the drone strikes, military movements, and the overall security environment are being actively investigated.
