Algeria Pledges Support for African Resource Development at Chad Expo

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed participants at the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons, ‘SIMICA Chad 2026’, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to African cooperation and South-South partnerships. The address, delivered by the Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, highlighted Algeria’s participation as guest of honor as a reflection of its dedication to fostering African unity and shared progress.

President Tebboune emphasized Africa’s vast natural resources, particularly in hydrocarbons and strategic minerals. He stated that the key challenge lies in effectively managing and valorizing these resources to drive sustainable economic and social development, create value-added industries, and generate employment opportunities for the benefit of all Africans.

The President stressed the importance of establishing sound governance within the extractive industries, emphasizing transparency, knowledge localization, technology transfer, adherence to environmental standards, and the promotion of local content. He further advocated for responsible investments and balanced partnerships that yield mutual benefits for all stakeholders.

The address showcased Algeria’s experience in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors, emphasizing national control over resources, the development of value chains, and the building of human capacity. Algeria expressed its readiness to share its expertise with fellow African nations, particularly in exploration, production, processing, training, and research and development.

President Tebboune reiterated that African cooperation is central to Algeria’s foreign policy, with a focus on regional infrastructure projects that promote economic integration, enhance energy security, and contribute to shared development. He reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to supporting African efforts to build a strong, united, and sustainable continental economy.
