The United States Embassy in Algiers has issued a clarification regarding the payment process for the B1/B2 visa, which is intended for business and tourism purposes. The embassy advises eligible applicants to refrain from paying the potential USD 15,000 bond before attending their consular interview.
In a statement released on its official Facebook page, the embassy explained that some Algerian applicants may be required to pay a refundable bond of up to USD 15,000 before their visa is issued, starting January 21, 2026. However, the embassy emphasized that making an advance payment does not guarantee visa approval.
Applicants who are required to pay the bond will be directly informed by a consular officer following their interview. The officer will provide a direct and official link to the payment website (pay.gov) along with the necessary instructions for completing the transaction securely and officially.
The US Embassy reiterated that any attempt to make a payment before the interview is considered unofficial and could expose the applicant to potential risks. The embassy urges all applicants to adhere strictly to the official instructions provided to avoid any complications.
This clarification aims to ensure that Algerian applicants for the B1/B2 visa are well-informed about the correct and secure payment procedures, thereby protecting them from potential fraud and misinformation.
