Algiers, Algeria – The National Meteorology Office has issued a severe weather alert for several provinces across Algeria, warning of impending thunderstorms and strong winds. Residents are urged to exercise caution and take necessary precautions.
The alert, issued Friday, specifically mentions the potential for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the following provinces: Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Sidi Bel Abbes, Oran, Mascara, Saida, Mostaganem, Relizane, Tiaret, Chlef, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Medea, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Ouled Djellal, Bouira, Biskra, and Batna. The warning remains in effect until 6:00 PM local time.
In addition to the thunderstorms, the Meteorology Office also cautioned about strong winds, potentially accompanied by blowing sand, in several other regions. These include the provinces of Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Ain Temouchent, Tlemcen, Naama, El Bayadh, and Laghouat. This particular alert is valid from 3:00 PM Friday until dawn on Saturday.
