Algeria’s General Directorate for Accreditation (ALGERAC) has announced plans to establish a national network of certified quality compliance laboratories in the electrical industry sector. According to ALGERAC’s General Director, Nourredine Boudissa, the network will initially encompass four laboratories located in the provinces of Boumerdès, Mostaganem, and Constantine. These facilities will analyze and inspect all products to ensure they meet national and international standards,National Network for Certified Quality Laboratories in Electrical Industries.

Furthermore, the Algerian Accreditation Body has implemented technical legislation defining the procedures for inspecting both locally manufactured and imported products, including their technical and legal requirements for entering the national market. This move is expected to regulate the market and protect consumers effectively.

Regarding the E3C Quality Control and Compliance Center, a branch of the industrial group GSP Electric in Mostaganem, Boudissa highlighted its strategic importance. Located near the seaport of Mostaganem, the laboratory is poised to play a crucial role in the regulatory system for inspecting imported products before their market release, thereby protecting the national economy and consumers.

Mohamed Khalifa, Deputy Head of the Algerian Electrical Industries Association, lauded the E3C laboratory as a significant achievement for Mostaganem Province and the western region of the country. Unique in some of its tests and measurements at both national and African levels, the lab’s accreditation followed three years of perseverance, work, and investment.

ISO 17025 accredited, the E3C laboratory is equipped to conduct analyses in electricity, electronics, light measurements, energy efficiency tests for home appliances, fire testing, metal analysis, and physical and chemical analyses, as affirmed by the project manager, Wassim Abbas.

Abbas also noted that the center’s upcoming goals include obtaining ISO 17020 inspection accreditation and expanding the project, which has already cost 100 million dinars. The expansion plans include increasing employment from the current 11 positions to 50 in the future, alongside the launch of a training center in various specialties.
