Over 30,000 Hallucinogenic Tablets Seized in Tindouf

Tindouf, Algeria – Security forces in Tindouf have dismantled a criminal network specializing in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances, seizing a significant quantity of hallucinogenic tablets. The operation, conducted by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of the Tindouf State Police, resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of over 30,000 tablets.

According to a statement released by the Algerian police, the case originated from intelligence indicating that the suspects were in possession of a substantial amount of psychotropic drugs, which they intended to distribute using a vehicle. Following this lead, the BRI initiated an investigation under the supervision of the local public prosecutor’s office.

The investigation led to the apprehension of two men, aged 20 and 22. Authorities seized 30,053 capsules of Pregabalin 300mg. In addition to the drugs, a four-wheel-drive vehicle used for transporting and distributing the narcotics was recovered, along with a sum of money believed to be proceeds from their criminal activities.

Pregabalin is a prescription drug often abused for its euphoric and sedative effects. Its illegal distribution poses a serious threat to public health and safety. The authorities are committed to combating drug trafficking and protecting communities from the harms associated with substance abuse.

The two suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Tindouf Court. This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Algerian law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and maintain public order.
