The Minister of Communication, Zohir Bouamama, has expressed his deepest condolences following the death of veteran journalist and Mujahid, Menouar Semm, who passed away at the age of 90. Semm dedicated his life to serving the nation and the national cause.
In a statement released today, Minister Bouamama conveyed his profound sadness at the loss of a prominent figure in revolutionary media. He lauded Semm’s sacrifices and significant contributions during the glorious liberation revolution, emphasizing that his name is inextricably linked to pivotal moments in the history of the national struggle.
The Minister recalled with great appreciation and respect Semm’s vital role in media and the liberation struggle. He highlighted Semm’s participation in broadcasting the program “A Word from Algeria” on Damascus Radio in 1958, alongside representatives of the National Liberation Front (FLN), during a critical phase of Algeria’s fight for independence. Furthermore, Semm was a key figure in the establishment and operation of the militant radio station, Voice of Free Algeria.
“His contributions to Algerian media and the liberation struggle will never be forgotten,” stated Minister Bouamama.
On this sorrowful occasion, the Minister of Communication extended his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased, as well as to the revolutionary and media community. He prayed to Almighty God to bestow His mercy upon the departed soul, grant him a place in paradise, and give his family and loved ones patience and solace.

The late Menouar Semm’s legacy as a dedicated journalist and a committed freedom fighter will continue to inspire generations of Algerians.
