Prime Minister Ghrib Presides Over Inaugural National Investment Council Session

Algiers, January 27, 2026 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib today chaired the first session of the National Investment Council. The meeting, held in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 22-18 pertaining to investment and acting on the instructions of the President of the Republic, was dedicated to evaluating the National Investment Promotion Agency with the aim of enhancing its effectiveness.

During the session, the Council examined the extent of implementation of the legislative provisions governing the agency, as well as measures aimed at improving its performance, particularly through better addressing the aspirations of investors. Key areas of focus included streamlining bureaucratic processes and fostering a more investor-friendly environment.

A primary objective was to ensure the National Investment Promotion Agency is equipped to attract both domestic and foreign investment, thereby contributing to sustainable economic growth and job creation. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach involving all relevant government stakeholders to remove obstacles and facilitate investment projects.

The meeting also marked the official launch of the preparation of the National Investment Strategy, focusing on attracting, promoting, and directing investment in the medium and long term. This strategy will aim to identify key sectors for investment, develop targeted incentives, and strengthen Algeria’s competitiveness as an investment destination. The government aims to create a clear and predictable regulatory framework to instill confidence in investors and encourage long-term commitments.

The National Investment Council is expected to play a crucial role in monitoring the implementation of the new investment strategy and ensuring that Algeria remains an attractive and competitive destination for both local and international investors.
