Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has renewed his criticism of international silence regarding the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that true solidarity requires actual and urgent action to support the Palestinian people.
Guardiola’s remarks came on Thursday evening during his participation in a charity event titled “Act x Palestine,” held at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, Catalonia. The event featured various artistic, sporting, and cultural figures aimed at raising awareness and supporting humanitarian causes related to Palestine.
The Spanish manager appeared in a widely circulated video on social media platforms wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh while delivering his speech. “When I have watched over the past two years a child asking about his mother who might be buried under the rubble, I always wonder: what is going on in this child’s mind?” Guardiola said.
He added: “I think we have left them alone. They constantly ask: ‘Where are you? Come and help us,’ and so far we have done nothing.” Guardiola criticized international decision-makers, asserting that what is happening in Palestine is the result of global silence and moral failure. He stressed that bombs are not only intended for destruction but also to silence voices and push the world to ignore the tragedy.
The Spanish coach concluded by saying: “We must act and not turn our backs on what is happening. This is a stand for Palestine, and for all of humanity.”
Guardiola is known for his supportive stances toward the Palestinian people. He previously called on the residents of Barcelona to gather at the Lluís Companys Stadium to express solidarity with Palestine, part of a series of solidarity initiatives that have seen widespread local and international engagement.
