MC Alger suffered a tough defeat at the hands of their host, Saint Éloi Lupopo, during the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
The club fell into Lupopo’s trap, conceding a loss in the final moments of the match when player Kimbutu scored the winning goal in the 90+5 minute.
With this defeat, MC Alger’s chances of competing for one of the two quarter-final spots in Group C have diminished. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Sudan’s Al Hilal currently share the lead of the group with 5 points each.
MC Alger currently sits at the bottom of the group with just a single point, resulting from two away defeats and one home draw.
