Sofiane Bahbou, President of the National Federation of Red Meat Importers, confirmed that the Algerian market will achieve self-sufficiency in red meat during the upcoming month of Ramadan at affordable prices for consumers.
In an interview on Wednesday, Bahbou explained that economic operators are mobilized to provide this commodity during the holy month.
The discussion addressed coordination with the government regarding meat imports for Ramadan, the facilities provided to importers, and the total volume of imported quantities.
Bahbou also spoke on whether the scenario of scarcity has been ruled out and if price controls will be effectively managed. Furthermore, he touched upon the factors that have hindered Algeria’s success in local meat production.
