Minister of Communication Meets with Officials of Electronic Media Websites

Minister of Communication, Zouhir Bouamama, chaired a working meeting today, Tuesday, at the ministry’s headquarters with several officials from accredited electronic media websites.

This meeting is an extension of previous sessions held by the minister with officials of national media outlets across various platforms, aiming to open dialogue channels with sector actors, listen to their professional concerns, and discuss several related issues.

During the meeting, the minister expressed his appreciation and pride in the significant work performed by electronic media websites in defending the nation and highlighting the efforts of state institutions in supporting development across various fields. He called on them to accompany the major projects being implemented to strengthen Algeria’s position regionally and internationally and to push its economy toward broader horizons.

Attendees praised the support of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the electronic press in Algeria through the enactment of laws that allow for its organization and the provision of financial support necessary to maintain the sustainability of these media institutions.

The meeting was also an opportunity to commend the significant roles played by the national media in the battle of awareness that Algeria is fighting from a position of strength, armed with the awareness of its people who support state institutions against systematic campaigns managed outside its borders in a desperate attempt to influence the internal front.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the minister emphasized the responsibility of electronic media in contributing to the construction of a strong and cohesive media system that enables Algerians to obtain reliable information in a timely manner. He stressed the need to work effectively to counter disinformation and fake news with objective data, protecting collective awareness and strengthening society’s immunity against the plans of disinformation laboratories.
