Brigadier General Omar Al-Mardoud, an investigator at the Al-Qanawat police station in Damascus, revealed shocking details regarding the murder of Syrian actress Hoda Shaarawi at the hands of her Ghanaian maid inside her home.
The investigator stated that investigations showed suspicion centered on the maid, who disappeared immediately after committing the crime against the “Bab Al-Hara” star, famously known as “Umm Zaki.” He noted that search operations, in coordination with internal security forces, resulted in tracking the perpetrator as she fled through the streets of Damascus, leading to her arrest two hours after the start of the preliminary investigation.
He added that the perpetrator confessed to the crime, justifying her motive by claiming the victim had attempted to poison her—a claim the investigator described as “baseless.”
