Units of the National Gendarmerie in Algiers, within the First Military Region, dismantled two international cross-border criminal networks specialized in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances in two separate operations on Monday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the operations resulted in foiling attempts to distribute 4,292,000 hallucinogenic pills, the arrest of 20 drug traffickers, and the seizure of 10 passenger cars, sums of money, and other items used in this criminal activity.
These two operations are added to numerous others that have prevented the entry and distribution of these toxins in the country, reaffirming the high professionalism, constant vigilance, and permanent readiness of the People’s National Army units in all their components to confront all forms of organized crime.
The statement added that the challenge remains for all segments of society to unite in fighting this dangerous scourge and protecting the nation’s assets, namely its youth.
