Astronomer Loth Bonatiro has revealed, based on astronomical data, the date of the first day of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 2026.
In a statement on Tuesday, Bonatiro explained that astronomical data indicates the conjunction of the sun and the moon will occur on February 17 at 13:03, which is the day the crescent is observed after sunset.
He added that because the conjunction occurs at that time, there will not be enough time after sunset for the Ramadan crescent to be visible.
He continued: “This means that February 18 will be the completion of the month of Shaban, and therefore the first day of Ramadan will be February 19, 2026.”
