Algerian sky to witness enchanting astronomical phenomenon

Sky enthusiasts looking toward the southwest will be able to witness the Moon’s conjunction with the star Regulus (Qalb al-Asad) in the constellation Leo at an altitude of 55 degrees above the horizon.

According to a statement from the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics, sky enthusiasts will be able to see this phenomenon on the night of Monday, February 2, to Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 03:50 AM local time.

This scene is considered a beautiful astronomical phenomenon, as the Moon and this bright star will be at their closest distance, with a separation not exceeding 0.4 degrees from center to center.
