Express Mail: First Smart Locker Network Launched in Algeria

EMS Champion Post Algérie announced on Tuesday the launch of the “Smartbox-Champion” smart locker service in four provinces as part of a pilot phase. According to a statement from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the service is initially available in Algiers, Oran, Setif, and Ghardaia. These automated self-service lockers provide a secure and convenient way to receive and send parcels 24/7, without being restricted by specific hours, thereby enhancing service quality and accessibility for citizens.

The lockers are designed for installation in shopping centers, public housing complexes, and Algeria Post self-service areas, making them suitable for urban environments and high-density population areas. The “Smartbox-Champion” service was developed in partnership with an Algerian startup, utilizing local expertise and materials to support innovation and the digitalization of parcel delivery services nationwide.

The institution plans to gradually expand the service to include more than 2,000 smart lockers across 69 provinces during 2026 and 2027. This expansion aims to strengthen geographical coverage and provide citizens with a secure, practical, and flexible method for receiving their parcels.
