The Committee on Youth, Sports, and Associative Activity of the People’s National Assembly is organizing a parliamentary day tomorrow, Tuesday, focused on drug prevention and addiction treatment. The event will be held under the supervision of the Speaker of the Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali.
The parliamentary day, titled “Prevention of the Danger of Drugs to Society and Addiction Treatment,” aims to strengthen institutional debate on national societal issues. It addresses the drug phenomenon, which has become a “real threat” to social security and youth stability, given its health, social, and security consequences.
The Chairman of the Committee on Youth, Sports, and Associative Activity, Merazi Bouziane, and Speaker Ibrahim Boughali will deliver speeches highlighting the gravity of addiction and the necessity of coordinating legislative, executive, and community efforts to combat it.
The program includes several specialized presentations, including therapeutic approaches and successful field experiences in addiction treatment. It will also cover public policies and national legislation regarding addiction control, as well as the national security strategy in this field.
Other presentations will address the reality of addiction among youth and the role of various actors in prevention, particularly the role of mosques in raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and addiction.
The parliamentary day will conclude with a general discussion for participants to exchange views and proposals. The proceedings will culminate in a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening prevention mechanisms, care, and social reintegration.
