The national football team faces the Democratic Republic of the Congo this evening at 17:00 at Rabat Stadium, as part of the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. “The Greens” are looking to build on the strong performance they displayed during the group stage and continue their African journey by securing qualification for the quarter-finals.
Petkovic’s players are fully aware of the stakes involved and are required to deliver a more solid and focused performance to overcome a Congolese side that showed significant potential during the group stage.
The national team enters the match without the services of Samir Chergui and Jaouen Hadjam due to injury, as well as Rayan Aït-Nouri, who has not yet regained full fitness due to a cold.
The refereeing committee has assigned an Egyptian crew to manage the match, led by head referee Mohamed Maarouf Eid Mansour, assisted by his compatriots Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel Abouelregal as first assistant and Ahmed Hossam Taha Ibrahim as second assistant, while Amin Mohamed Omar will serve as the fourth official.
Should they overcome the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Captain Mahrez and his teammates will face Nigeria in the quarter-finals, following Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique yesterday.
