The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, inspected the pharmaceutical production unit of the Saidal Group during the first stop of his working visit to the province of Mostaganem. According to a ministry statement, the ongoing project involves the establishment of a factory dedicated to the production of veterinary vaccines, covering both raw materials and finished products.
Upon completion of the works, which have reached 70 percent, the unit’s production capacity is expected to reach 175 tons per year. The project will provide 120 direct jobs, which will be filled by university graduates from the province.
During the visit, the minister stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work to begin producing these vital materials that contribute to the protection of livestock. He emphasized that local production would significantly reduce the import bill and enable the sector to respond quickly and effectively to mutations in viruses affecting animals.
The minister also noted that the timelines associated with importing vaccines often make them out of sync with virus evolution, highlighting the importance of local production to ensure the protection of animal wealth. He insisted on the necessity of speeding up the construction work, which has experienced significant delays, to deliver the project as soon as possible.
