The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, expressed her admiration for Algeria’s dynamism on Thursday, praising its macroeconomic stability, development, and low inflation.
In a statement following her meeting with President Tebboune, Georgieva said: “We held an extensive and rich discussion with the President, where I had the opportunity to express my gratitude to Algeria for hosting a meeting of paramount importance regarding the connection between Europe and Africa through North Africa.”
She continued: “We commend the significant progress Algeria has made in macroeconomic stability and development, as well as the reduction in the inflation rate, which is reflecting positively on the economy.”
The spokesperson added: “I want to express the IMF’s full support for Algeria’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy.”
She also noted that “Algeria is focusing its efforts on creating job opportunities for youth, supporting entrepreneurship and startups, and investing in human capital, which represents the country’s future.”
The IMF Director concluded her statement by saying: “This is my first visit to Algeria, and I have been impressed by the beauty and dynamism of the country. Thank you.”
