Lamine Osmani, President of the Sawt al-Chaab party, emphasized that Algeria needs a political party that defends the citizen, proposes solutions, and speaks the truth.
During a meeting of the political bureau held on Thursday at the party’s new headquarters in Algiers, Osmani stated that Sawt al-Chaab is active in the political arena, interacting with citizens and conveying their concerns.
He also stressed that the party is not just about him, but consists of hundreds of activists across the national territory.
Osmani asserted that the era of a superficial political scene is over, and the period of political desertification and bankruptcy experienced by the political class has passed.
He added: “We have come to rectify this situation, and we are not alone in this. In the upcoming elections, we will begin real structural reforms in the political scene, resulting in activist work stemming from the popular will.”
Regarding his absence from the seminar discussing the technical amendment projects for the constitution and the election law—which was attended by Prime Minister Saifi Gharib, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, and leaders of political parties—Osmani confirmed that he was in Beijing on an official visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.
Osmani explained that this visit, which coincided with the seminar, was part of the Chinese government’s desire to inform political and economic figures from Arab countries about the dimensions of the Chinese macroeconomic renaissance.
He also revealed that his political organization has submitted its proposals to the authorities, particularly regarding the draft law on political parties, through official correspondence containing a set of recommendations.
