First Lieutenant Karim Ben Fahsi, the media officer at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, revealed the results of interventions by Civil Protection services over the last few hours following weather fluctuations that affected several provinces across the country.
Ben Fahsi explained on Wednesday that Civil Protection services in Tiaret province managed to free 32 vehicles, including 13 cars and an empty bus, stuck due to snow accumulation in the Ghalal and Ain Ghasma areas of Tiaret municipality, in addition to 5 cars in Ain Kermes and 9 cars in Sougueur at the Bouakkaz farm.
Civil Protection services in Tissemsilt province also intervened to extract 16 cars stuck in the snow in Tissemsilt municipality and 8 cars in Theniet El Had.
According to Ben Fahsi, Civil Protection services in Tizi Ouzou province managed to free a car stuck due to snow in the village of Tizi Helouane in Bounouh municipality, with no human casualties recorded.
In Bordj Bou Arreridj province, two people trapped by snow inside a car were evacuated in Taglait municipality, with no human casualties reported.
On the other hand, Civil Protection services in Mostaganem province managed to pump out accumulated water in Douar Belmokhtar Yanaro in Sour municipality and the courtyard of a house near Belayachi Primary School in Sayada municipality. Water was also pumped out of a car repair garage in Wadi Al-Hadaeq, in addition to rainwater on National Road No. 11 near the service station in Mazagran municipality.
Ben Fahsi mentioned that Civil Protection services have set up security units across all provinces of the country experiencing exceptional weather conditions.
