The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kaouter Krikou, revealed that the number of institutions specialized in household waste recycling supervised by the National Waste Agency and the National Institute for Environmental Training exceeds 1,946 operators.
This statement was made on Saturday during the launch of an awareness campaign to rationalize consumption during the holy month, which she supervised alongside the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amal Abdellatif.
Krikou confirmed that her sector’s slogan for the holy month is “Ramadan: Moderation and Sustainability for Generations,” aimed at rationalizing consumption, limiting waste, and reducing refuse.
The minister expressed concern over the significant increase in waste during Ramadan, estimated at 12 percent compared to normal days. She emphasized that this required coordination with various sectors and close coordination with local authorities to launch this awareness campaign.
