Criminal network specialized in hallucinogen trafficking dismantled

The security services of Boumerdes province have dismantled a dangerous criminal network consisting of seven individuals, including a woman, specialized in trafficking hallucinogens and luring citizens to assault them, according to a statement released on Saturday.

The statement noted that the crime-fighting units of the provincial security services successfully apprehended the seven-member network, whose ages range between 26 and 38 years. The suspects are known repeat offenders with prior criminal records.

According to the same statement, the details of the case emerged after a citizen filed a complaint regarding being subjected to blackmail and threats by a criminal network.

Subsequent investigations led to the identification and arrest of the members of this dangerous network, effectively ending their criminal activities. These activities included trafficking hallucinogenic pills, luring victims to assault them and steal their property, and taking photos and videos of them for blackmail purposes.

Upon their arrest, authorities seized more than 1,100 hallucinogenic pills, two vehicles used in their criminal operations, a quantity of cannabis, four aggressive dogs used in the assaults, and a sum of money derived from criminal proceeds.

Following the completion of all legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the competent judicial authorities.
