The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Sayoud, presided today, Monday, over the opening of a study day focused on the decarbonization of maritime transport and Algerian ports.
According to the ministry’s statement, the study day was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, the Director General of Customs, the Director General of Civil Protection, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of accelerating the preparation and equipping of ports to become model and advanced facilities, while adopting alternative fuels and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce carbon emissions.
Sayoud pointed out that the state encourages researchers and scientists to strive for practical and effective solutions, calling on all sectors and stakeholders to mobilize and work together to achieve sustainable development goals in the maritime transport sector.
The Minister also highlighted the positive results achieved in ports, such as the reduction in ship waiting times at port areas.
The Minister concluded his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the development of the maritime transport and ports sector, including institutions, experts, and national cadres, calling on everyone to continue efforts to protect the environment and enhance the competitiveness of Algerian ports.
