The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, chaired a working session on Monday evening to follow up on the implementation of the President of the Republic’s instructions issued during the Council of Ministers meeting held on January 26, 2026. These instructions pertain to the completion of the Annaba – Bled El Hadba Eastern Mining Line, following the Prime Minister’s inspection visit to the project yesterday, where he reaffirmed his commitment to the strict application of the President’s directives to complete the project within the specified deadlines.
The session was dedicated to monitoring the progress of the Eastern Mining Line project, particularly the bypass sections of Tenoukla (43 km), Driat – Oued Kebrit (30 km), and Annaba Port – Bouchegouf (54 km). A detailed presentation was provided regarding the schedule for the remaining works. The total length of the Eastern Mining Line is 422 km, with 174 km already completed. An additional 127 km of ongoing work is expected to be finished by next April, bringing the total completed distance to 301 km by that month. The remaining 121 km, connecting Bouchegouf, Souk Ahras, and Driat, will be completed according to the set schedule.
After reviewing the progress reports for the various sections, the Minister issued strict instructions to mobilize all material and human resources, emphasizing the need to enhance coordination among the various stakeholders involved in the project to accelerate the pace of work and ensure delivery within the deadlines.
During a second session focused on the 121 km section connecting Bouchegouf, Souk Ahras, and Driat, attended by central ministry officials, construction companies, national study offices, and the foreign partner, Minister Djellaoui called for the mobilization of all available capabilities. This call comes in light of the complexities characterizing the Bouchegouf – Driat section, particularly the difficult terrain. He stressed the importance of close monitoring of the various implementation stages and the activation of coordination mechanisms among stakeholders to complete the work within the timeframe set by the President of the Republic.
