The Professional Football League issued an important statement on Sunday, containing fundamental amendments and legal clarifications regarding the management of the remainder of the 2025-2026 football season. These decisions aim to organize discipline and provide a fresh start for clubs before the start of the second half of the season and cup matches.
The League decided to cancel all yellow cards for players who received three or fewer warnings up to Round 15. Conversely, it took a stricter stance with repeat offenders, confirming that any player who has accumulated four yellow cards will be automatically suspended for one match and will not benefit from the cancellation of penalties.
The statement also clarified that the Round of 16 matches of the Algerian Cup will be the turning point, where the official counting of yellow cards for the second half of the season begins. It also marks the start of the calculation period for player performance bonuses until the end of the season. Additionally, new players signed during the winter transfer window will be officially allowed to participate starting from this round.
The League also issued a stern warning regarding the local transfer market. New regulations stipulate that any player registered on the match sheet (whether in the Round of 16 of the Cup, the Super Cup final, or any match in the second half of the season) will permanently lose the right to change their club within the country during the same season. This forces clubs and players to finalize their decisions before names are recorded on the referee’s sheet.
This statement comes in line with Circular No. 64 issued by the Algerian Football Federation on November 27, 2025, which regulates the second registration periods to ensure club stability and address legal loopholes that may arise during the winter transfer window.
