Krikou visits the headquarters of the National Meteorological Office

The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kaouter Krikou, conducted a working visit on Tuesday to the headquarters of the National Meteorological Office, in the presence of a group of experts and members of the National Climate Committee.

According to a ministry statement, this visit comes within the framework of sectoral coordination aimed at supporting and empowering various parties to contribute to the success of the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan, particularly by integrating the climate dimension into provincial development plans, in line with the strategic efforts made by the National Meteorological Office in this field.

The visit allowed for an overview of the office’s tasks and its pivotal role in monitoring and analyzing climate change, preparing weather and climate forecasts, as well as producing indicators and forward-looking data that form a fundamental pillar for drawing up national policies in the field on scientific bases.

During the visit, the efforts made in the field of developing early warning systems were also reviewed, as they are a strategic mechanism for enhancing prevention of natural risks associated with climate changes and limiting their effects.
