Algeria Hosts First Session of the Great Algerian-Mauritanian Parliamentary Committee

The headquarters of the People’s National Assembly is hosting the proceedings of the first session of the Algerian-Mauritanian Great Parliamentary Committee on Friday and Saturday.

According to a statement from the lower house of parliament, the committee’s proceedings, titled “Activating the Parliamentary Role in Supporting and Enhancing Bilateral Economic Cooperation between Algeria and Mauritania: Towards an Integrated and Sustainable Partnership,” will be held under the supervision of Ibrahim Boughali, President of the People’s National Assembly, and Mohamed Bamba Meguett, President of the Mauritanian National Assembly.

The session will consist of four working sessions, attended by several government members, economic sector officials, and representatives of relevant bodies and institutions. Each session will be dedicated to discussing a specific topic related to bilateral cooperation, its fields, and prospects, reflecting both countries’ commitment to strengthening consultation channels, serving common interests, and supporting their partnership path.

The proceedings of this session will address a range of files related to enhancing cooperation in economic, trade, and investment fields, and developing exchanges between the two countries. This is in addition to exploring ways to promote parliamentary coordination and exchange expertise in legislative and oversight matters, as well as unifying visions on several regional and international issues of common interest.

The holding of this session comes within the context of the growing dynamics in Algerian-Mauritanian relations, embodying the shared political will of the leaders of both countries and consolidating the principle of permanent consultation and coordination to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and integration between the Algerian and Mauritanian peoples.
