Algeria confirmed that its participation, along with Mauritania, in the direct negotiations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front in the Spanish capital, Madrid, was solely in their capacity as “observer” parties.
Official sources refuted false information promoted by Moroccan media aimed at involving Algeria in the negotiations as a primary party. The same sources stated that Morocco is in an embarrassing position, which explains its attempts to disrupt the negotiations.
The sources added: “In the end, the true approach will prevail. The resolution of the conflict in Western Sahara will be exclusively between the parties involved and will be the result of direct negotiations between them.”
