“Algeria Mechanics”: More Than 50 Cooperation and Partnership Agreements Signed

The first edition of the “Algeria Mechanics” exhibition concluded on Thursday evening in Oran with the signing of more than 50 cooperation and partnership agreements between various companies.

Exhibition Commissioner Sofiane Kahil stated during the closing ceremony, which included the distribution of certificates to participants, that 16 agreements were signed concerning the higher education and scientific research sector to strengthen the relationship between universities and the economic environment. Additionally, approximately 35 agreements were signed between private economic operators, car manufacturers, and spare parts producers. This included four agreements signed by “Stellantis,” the producer of “Fiat” vehicles, with subcontractors for automotive equipment and parts.

He noted that these agreements were the result of professional meetings and work sessions involving various actors in the mechanical industry, including official bodies such as the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the Ministry of Industry, represented by the Directorate of Mechanical Industries, alongside manufacturers and subcontracting professionals.

Kahil described this first edition as a success, citing the participation of exhibitors representing global industrial brands and spare parts producers at both international and local levels. The presence of Algerian universities also added a scientific and technical dimension to the discussions and topics presented.

He further indicated that the event served as a platform to address concerns and study solutions, with a focus on developing national subcontracting and increasing the local integration rate. This aims to realize projects currently under study and open broader horizons for investment in the mechanical and automotive industries.

Rachid Bakhchi, Director of the Algerian Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange West, confirmed that the exhibition facilitated numerous bilateral meetings, some of which led to the signing of agreements, while others are expected to result in future partnerships.

The three-day economic event was organized by the “Eventrade” agency under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry, in partnership with the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, and the Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange West. More than 100 exhibitors from within the country and abroad participated, representing various segments of the vehicle manufacturing ecosystem, including manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors, as well as financing institutions and investment support structures.

The exhibition also featured discussion sessions and specialized workshops covering topics such as local integration, the development of subcontracting activities, and the prospects for the spare parts industry and after-sales services, with the participation of experts and specialists from Algeria and abroad.
