Attempt to Smuggle 3 Quintals of Treated Hashish via Morocco Thwarted

Detachments of the People’s National Army arrested five support elements for terrorist groups in separate operations, according to the operational balance of the People’s National Army. According to the report covering the period from January 8 to 13, 2026, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across military regions, arrested 40 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 3 quintals and 4 kilograms of treated hashish across the border with Morocco. Additionally, 34.7 kilograms of cocaine and 218,222 hallucinogenic pills were seized.

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Illizi, army detachments arrested 200 individuals and seized 36 vehicles, 132 power generators, and 107 jackhammers, along with quantities of raw gold ore and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations.

Twelve other individuals were arrested, and an FMPK machine gun, three Kalashnikov submachine guns, four hunting rifles, and 33,050 liters of fuel intended for smuggling were seized during separate operations.

Furthermore, the Coast Guard thwarted illegal migration attempts and rescued 71 people aboard traditional boats, while 205 illegal migrants of various nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
