Introduction of new environmental specialties in vocational training

The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kaouter Krikou, along with the Minister of Vocational Education and Training, Arhab Nassima, oversaw the signing of a protocol agreement between the two sectors on Thursday. This took place during a field visit to the Rabah Sebaat National Specialized Institute for Vocational Training in the municipality of Rouiba.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Environment, the agreement involves the inclusion of new environmental specialties in vocational education and training. It aims to integrate the environmental dimension into pedagogical programs and adapt them to labor market requirements and current environmental challenges. Specifically, it seeks to support young graduates of training institutions who possess innovative ideas and projects in environmental entrepreneurship, promoting a shift toward green jobs and the circular economy.

As part of reviewing pioneering experiences in recycling, the ministerial delegation visited a paper collection and recycling company in Algiers. They observed various stages of the company’s activity in collecting and recovering paper waste, as well as its role in supporting sustainable development, creating jobs, and encouraging investment in the recycling sector. This is particularly relevant for youth within the framework of implementing Executive Decree No. 24-61 concerning the organization of waste collection activities for natural persons, in coordination with the National Agency for Management of Microcredit (ANGEM) to enhance the integration between training, financing, and support for environmental project holders.
