The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, congratulated the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on the successful launch of the “Alsat-3A” earth observation satellite, which represents an advanced and significant step in Africa’s space and geospatial capabilities.
Ali Youssouf stated that this achievement highlights Algeria’s leadership in the field of space science and reflects its commitment to harnessing satellite technologies for sustainable development, environmental monitoring, disaster risk reduction, and supporting evidence-based policymaking.
The Chairperson expressed his hope that the high-resolution data provided by the “Alsat-3A” satellite would contribute to serving national and continental priorities, in line with Agenda 2063 and the African Space Policy and Strategy.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission also welcomed the strong spirit of international cooperation that accompanied the launch of this satellite and praised Algeria’s continued investment and peaceful use of outer space for the collective progress of Africa.
