Mauritanian Minister of Energy and Oil on a Working Visit to Algeria

The Mauritanian Minister of Energy and Oil, Mohamed Ould Khaled, begins a two-day working visit to Algeria this Sunday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.

The Mauritanian minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation including officials from major Mauritanian institutions active in the energy sector, such as the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC), and the Mauritanian Refining Company (SOMIR), along with several ministry officials.

This visit is part of strengthening the relations of brotherhood and cooperation between Algeria and Mauritania, and embodying the shared will to elevate the bilateral partnership, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons, mines, energy, renewable energies, and training.

The Mauritanian minister will hold talks with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, as well as with the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal. They will discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation, exchange expertise, and explore partnership and investment opportunities in projects of common interest.

He will also hold working meetings with officials from the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz groups to learn about the Algerian experience in the fields of exploration and production, the development of energy infrastructure, and the management of electricity and gas systems, in addition to training and capacity-building programs.

This visit reflects the positive dynamics in Algerian-Mauritanian relations and the shared desire to consolidate strategic cooperation and promote integration in the energy field, serving the common interests of both countries and supporting sustainable development.
