The Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Issues, Soraya Mouloudji, oversaw on Sunday, alongside several government members, the official opening of national training workshops on the new educational and pedagogical program for the care of children with autism spectrum disorder, held at the National Higher School of Administration.
In her speech on the occasion, Mouloudji emphasized that Algeria is “taking steady steps today toward the optimal care of people with autism spectrum disorder, through the national policy adopted within the framework of protecting and promoting people with special needs.”
The Minister explained that the establishment of the National Autism Center is a “significant strategic step aimed at building an integrated national system for the care of those with autism and a fundamental focal point for unifying the efforts of public institutions and civil society to regulate and standardize care mechanisms at the national level.”
The Minister also revealed the preparation of a new pedagogical and educational program project aimed at unifying care methods and mechanisms across all specialized institutions, whether they belong to the national solidarity sector or other sectors, within the “framework of unifying mechanisms and methods for the care of people with autism spectrum disorder.”
This program, Mouloudji added, includes 10 main axes, most notably multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional functional assessment, environment preparation, development of communication skills, cognitive growth, learning, social skills, behaviors, development of independence, management of adaptive behaviors, and multi-disciplinary networking to support the overall development of the affected child.
