The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, participated in the closing ceremonies of the first sectoral cyber attack simulation exercise and cyber hackathon. These events were organized by the ministry to enhance the readiness of national institutions to face cyber threats, with the participation of all institutions within the sector.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that strengthening cybersecurity represents a pivotal pillar for achieving national digital sovereignty, which is one of Algeria’s strategic priorities in light of rapid digital transformation. He recalled the President’s directives on the necessity of developing an integrated national digital strategy based on proactivity, enhancing the protection of information systems, and promoting a responsible citizen digital culture to ensure the security of national cyberspace and the sustainability of its development.
The Minister praised the high technical level demonstrated by the participants in the cyber hackathon, which reflects the great potential of Algerian youth. He stressed that investing in young talent is a strategic choice to ensure the sustainability of a secure digital transformation.
Zerrouki also gave special recognition to the students of the National Higher School of Information and Communication Technologies and Post, as well as all participants who contributed to the success of this scientific and technical event.
The closing program included simulations of several cyber attack scenarios, including phishing, ransomware, and denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. It also featured the presentation and discussion of the cyber exercise results, a thematic seminar on cybersecurity and skill development in light of current challenges, and an interactive discussion session with the audience.
