The Minister of Vocational Education and Training, Nassima Arhab, oversaw the vocational training entry ceremony for the February 2026 session today, Sunday, at the “Mohamed Marzouki” National Specialized Institute of Vocational Training in Tindouf province.
The sector is recording the enrollment of more than 285,000 new trainees and apprentices in training institutions across various provinces of the country for this session. They are distributed among various training modes, led by apprenticeship training, classroom-based training, and distance learning, in addition to evening classes and training for people with special needs.
As part of this training entry, new specialties have been introduced in some provinces, such as data analysis and the installation and maintenance of solar panels.
The Minister, who was accompanied by the Wali of Tindouf, Mustapha Dahou, oversaw the signing of an agreement between the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and economic enterprises. This was followed by a visit to the institute to inspect a mining geology specialty group and a topographic surveying workshop, as well as giving the signal to start training for an entrepreneurship group.
The Ministry has adopted the National Reference for Training and Competencies, which replaces the National Nomenclature of Vocational Training that previously included more than 400 specialties across 23 professional branches.
The sector focuses on professional branches considered “priority” sectors, such as agriculture, industry, digitalization, construction and public works, tourism and hospitality, water and environment, and renewable energy. This aligns with the requirements of the labor market and the needs expressed by economic enterprises for a qualified workforce.
The vocational education and training sector includes a total of more than 1,100 training institutions across the country, in addition to 18 centers of excellence established in partnership with economic operators in technical and industrial fields.
