Civil Protection services managed to free and rescue two people trapped by snow in the Al-Wakrif cave in Tikjda, Bouira province.
According to the same services, the operation began yesterday at 16:30 under very difficult weather conditions, characterized by snowfall, strong winds, and dense fog, in addition to rugged paths and difficult terrain.
The statement added that the two victims were reached on Sunday morning after a trek that lasted all night amidst very harsh weather conditions. They were lowered using ropes in a precise technical maneuver due to the difficulty of accessing the cave. They were reported to be in good health.
Following the rescue, they were returned to the vehicle assembly point and transferred to the hospital to check on their health status. The operation took approximately 20 hours of continuous work, the statement added.
