Saihi Urges Protection of Workers’ Rights in Social Security

The Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, held a meeting on Sunday morning at the ministry’s headquarters with the directors general of the social insurance funds for salaried workers, non-salaried workers, and retirement, in the presence of central administration officials. The meeting was dedicated to evaluating the implementation of instructions regarding the financial balances of these funds and monitoring the measures adopted to address imbalances and enhance management efficiency.

This meeting comes as part of the periodic follow-up on the operations of the bodies under supervision, maintaining the financial balances of social security funds, and ensuring their sustainability to achieve the continuity of their tasks in serving the insured. During the meeting, the Minister listened to presentations by the directors general covering current financial indicators, expenditure control mechanisms, and paths for improving collection, alongside measures adopted to support financial stability and ensure the continuity of performance and services under the best conditions.

Following the discussions, the Minister issued a set of instructions and directives, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining the financial balances of the funds through rationalizing expenditures, improving governance, and strengthening control and modern management tools, without affecting the rights of the insured in terms of social coverage and related benefits.

The Minister also urged the protection of workers’ rights in the field of social security by intensifying field visits and strengthening monitoring and support mechanisms to establish the principles of justice and equity, reinforcing the social dimension of the state. He called for accelerating digital transformation and adopting remote digital services to reduce the travel burden for users, speed up file processing, move away from unsuitable traditional management patterns, and build an integrated and secure digital system that ensures information flow, processing accuracy, and procedural transparency.

Furthermore, he emphasized making the improvement of public service quality a top priority by simplifying administrative procedures, reviewing organizational paths, and adopting a citizen-centered approach while ensuring the rapid handling of concerns. Saihi also urged for enhanced coordination and integration between various bodies under supervision and the exchange of expertise and data to achieve harmony in performance, raise efficiency, and provide modern services that meet citizens’ aspirations and align with national trends aimed at modernizing administration and consolidating transparency, digitalization, and good governance.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed that maintaining financial balances and enhancing public service quality are two inseparable and complementary paths. He stated that unifying efforts and joint work are the foundation for building a strong and sustainable social security system that elevates the quality of services provided to citizens and meets their legitimate aspirations in the field of social security.
