The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Saïd Saayoud, confirmed that digital transformation is an irreversible strategic national choice, in implementation of the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
During his speech at the opening of the National Meeting on Innovation and Digital Transformation, organized by the Mediator of the Republic, Saayoud stated that innovation and digital transformation constitute a fundamental pillar for building a modern, efficient, and transparent administration that is close to the citizen.
He also pointed out that digital transformation is not limited to digitizing documents, but is rather a deep structural and cultural shift in the management of public facilities.
In his intervention, the Minister of Interior revealed the generalization of electronic services at the municipal and provincial levels, particularly regarding civil status, biometric identity cards, driver’s licenses, and biometric passports, along with the adoption of the National Identification Number as a unique identifier to link databases and enhance information accuracy.
The Minister explained that the development of digital services aims to reduce file processing times, alleviate pressure on service windows, minimize citizen travel, and improve the quality of public service.
He also announced the unification of national databases and their connection through secure networks to facilitate information exchange between administrations, emphasizing that digital transformation is an effective tool for combating bureaucracy and limiting illegal practices.
Furthermore, Saayoud considered that the success of the digitization process is linked to qualifying human resources, updating legal texts, protecting personal data, and consolidating a culture of innovation within the administration, while emphasizing the involvement of the citizen as a central focus in designing digital services.
He renewed the sector’s commitment to continue modernizing public facilities according to an integrated vision based on generalizing digitization, improving the legal framework, strengthening partnerships, and consolidating transparency and accountability, stressing that innovation and digital transformation are the cornerstone for building a modern administration and strengthening citizen trust in state institutions.
